What is one thing new that you learned from chapter 6?

in chapter 6, i learned all the blocks names. they are s-block, p-block, d-block, and f-block. I also learned that the atomic radii generally decrease as you move left to right acrossa period, and increases as you move down a group.

I learned that the periodic table has trends. In ionization energies, it generally increases going to the right and gernerally decreases going down. An ion is an atom or a bonded group of atoms that have positive or negative charge. Ionization energy is defined as the energy required to remove an electron from a gaseous lithium atom.

One important guy is John Newlands. He proposed an organized scheme for the elements. He name the arrangment of elements the law of octaves.

I learned about diagonal relationships in the periodic table. About how the metals are similiar physcial and chemical properties. I also learned about alkaline metals and how hydrogen is so wierd.
